During the election we were force fed the idea that Obama would take office and things would change. We were told that the change would be important, it would not be granular changes, but large philosophical changes. The left bought this hook line and sinker.
Let’s look at the broad picture.
The left hated Geo. W Bush because he used the events of 9/11 as pre-text to further a neo-conservative foreign policy.
So what does Obama do do in his first month in office? He uses the economic crisis as pre-text to roll out a leftist economic agenda and democratic spending package.
It was this “false” pre-text of 9/11 that caused the left to latch onto Obama for he was going to light the way and steer us clear of typical Washington politics. No, God forbid anyone question the President or any democrat about this double standard
What is amazing is that the left did not have buy into this charade. Many rational Americans saw through Obama’s thin veneer. The left had an option: Hillary. As much as I dislike her, I don’t think she is a wolf in sheeps clothing, she is just a wolf. In this administration she and Geithner are about the only rational people in the WHite House. In any event, regardless of who would have won the democratic ticket we would have had the same economic policies as it was Pelosi and Reid who developed the recovery package, not the savior Obama. He was just too weak willed to come out against the plastic usrgery machine that is Nancy Pelosi.

I couldn’t agree with your post and would love you to continue your postings here, I’ve noticed you haven’t written anything for a while. During the election too many Americans heard the hype they were given and believed “change” would happen like a snap of the fingers. I wonder your thoughts about Obama’s plans on health care, seems like Russia saw the same thing happen to them. Side note: contact me, I’d love to exchange links with your site.

Wow, I did a typo, the first sentance should read ” I couldn’t agree more.” More being the omitted word…

Drew – Thanks for the comment. Things have been busy for us and there is so much nonsense going on in Washington its depressing just thinking about writing about it.
As for our thoughts on Healthcare …
Its not about Healthcare – the greatest healthcare system in the world is avaialble to any human in this country. Any plan is only going to require citizens to purchase private insurance. The problem they are trying to solve is the “cost” of insurance by requiring everyone to buy it. Retarded.
As for the politicis of it – Forget Bi-Partisan support because it was *never* part of the actual plan. When you delegate to Pelosi and Kennedy to write a plan, “Bi-Partisan” is never even considered. Obama he never should have said this would be Bi-Partisan. The Dems plan from the beginning was to have a heavy handed government plan. To even imagine that would get enough GOP support (assuming it was *not* driven by Kennedy and Pelosi) to be considered “Bi-Partisan” is another one of Obama’s pipe dreams when it comes to governing and Federal Policy. Regardless, the large government role in Health-Care …. errr, subsidizing the purchase of private health insurance from the evil health insurance companies was apparent from the beginning. Let us not foget, this is not about increasing the availability of health care, the BEST health-care in the world is available to everyone, citizen or not, in this country. This is about requiring people to buy insurance from those immoral villains. Obama danced around the issue, failed to have clear direction and is now deflecting to cable news … err Fox News (MSNBC is having an affair with the Obama admin) for his failures to communicate.
Again, the guy spreads him arms, shows the nation a path that he never intends to travel on. Good luck closing Guantanamo (this was a HUGE issue in the election), having the stimulus plan do anything that an autonomous economy would not otherwise do alone, and enjoy the title of a war-time President – Afghanistan is going to get far worse before it gets any better.
Also, that chatting with enemies thing is working out great in Iran, North Korea and now Libya.
