The big news this past week in the race for the White House was Mike Huckabee’s gaffe regarding AIDS. There is talk that this rising GOP star will drop from front runner status as a result. On the other side of the aisle the dems, led by Hillary Clinton are adopting a more disasterous policy. Clinton laid out her thoughts on how a government should operate in 1969. It is The Hillary Clinton’s Wellesley Thesis (Sounds like the name of a spy movie). her thesis examines the teachings of Saul Alinsky, the defacto head of community organizing and grass roots politics. Saul Alinsky was a radical and many tie his teachings to socialism becasue of their community mindedness.
We posted a PDF scan of the Thesis here back in August, and since then the document has been read by thousands. This is the Rosetta Stone of Hillary studies. One intrepid GOPublius reader took the time to read the thesis and transcribe it into a searchabe PDF format so that we can better research this vitally important document. The thesis shows considerable depth and detail for a 22 year old female of the time, and her effort to digest the importance of politics, or political influence upon community activism shows, rather, a well developing social consciousness that today is sadly lacking in many Americans.
Just where the problem lies in analysis and recognition of then radical political philosophy reveals her awareness of it, and her attempt to reconcile it with her own political outlook.
Isn’t this what all college students are encouraged to do?
To take political innovators and examine their philosophy in order to define and evaluate their effectiveness, their accuracy, and their perspective.
Writing about radicals isn’t confirmation of having a radical philosophy. Indeed, if Hillary was radical, she would have defended Alinsky’s views rather than examine them for logical relevancy, disregarding the flaws and his ethnic character that helped to create them.
All politicians, if they are worthy of confidence, will have examined radical views, discarded those insignificant to them, and retaining the lessons learned by the exploration. The alternative is blind faith and rote reaction, perhaps rooted in political correctness, the worst possible combination for political rhetoric.
